Foundation repair permits in Frisco
A $75 permit, a registered engineer of record, and a few things Frisco doesn't spell out.
Frisco doesn't publish a one-page foundation repair checklist that we could find, unlike some neighbors. But three city sources together tell you a fair amount.
1. A permit applies to repairs
Frisco's Building Inspections FAQ says "Permit applications are required prior to any construction to modify, repair, replace, demolish, or improve an existing structure." Foundation repair is a repair to an existing structure.
2. The city lists a foundation repair fee
The city's consolidated fee schedule, effective 10/1/2026, lists Foundation Repair: $75.00. A permit line on a contractor's quote that's much higher than that probably includes something else, such as engineering. Ask.
3. The engineer of record must register
Frisco's Contractor Registration page lists the trades that must register before a permit is issued. The list includes general contractors and the "engineer of record (EOR) [residential only (structural / foundations)]." So for a residential foundation repair, expect an engineer to be named on the permit, and that engineer has to be registered with Frisco.
What we couldn't confirm: exactly which documents Frisco wants with a foundation repair application, or which inspections it schedules. Ask Building Inspections before work starts.

Three questions for any contractor
- Who pulls the permit, and can I have the permit number?
- Who is the engineer of record, and are they registered with Frisco?
- Will I get the engineer's design and any final letter or report?
About state licensing
As far as we can tell, Texas has no state license specifically for foundation repair contractors. A 2013 Texas House Research Organization analysis of HB 613, a bill to create one, said the "absence of state standards" lets "unqualified and unscrupulous people" do foundation repairs, and we haven't found a program in force since. Frisco's own registration rules focus on the contractor and the engineer of record, so ask for both names and check them with the city.
